 Grammar The   Attributive Clause

Analysis of teaching materials

The Attributive Clause is a difficult part in the   field of grammar, which is really based on the structure. That is so   different from Chinese that the students usually find it hard to master it.

Analysis of learning situation

   The   students have learned the attributive clause in junior middle school, but   they can just understand the meaning of the clause. For most students, it is   still difficult to use it.

Teaching Aims

1. Knowledge Aims

(1) The students will master the structure of the Attributive Clause, and   can speak out these sentences loudly, clearly and correctly.

(2) The   students will master the usage of who, which, whom, that and whose in the Attributive   Clause.

2. Ability AimsAfter learning,   the students will use attributive

  clauses to describe things and persons.

3. Moral AimsAfter learning, the   students can   realize that grammar is not difficult as they think. Encourage them to face   it and make some achievement.

4. Learning Strategiescognitive learning, task-based learning, cooperative learning

5. Culture: After learning, the students will be able to know the differences   between Chinese and English.

Help the students learn the Attributive Clause   introduced by that, which, whowhom and   whose.

Teaching Difficulties

Help the students know the usage of the words   that, which, who, whom and whose in the Attributive Clause.

Teaching  Procedures

Step1 Lead-in

Start the new lesson   by showing some attributive clauses.

Step 2 The Structure

Introduce the   structure of the Attributive Clause.

Step 3 Relative Pronouns

Help the   students to find the usage of who,which, whom,that,whose.

Step 4 Function of Relative Pronouns

Let the   students sum up the function of Relative Pronouns.

Step 5 Practice

The students   will do some exercises to consolidate the grammar.

Step 6 Group work

The students   will complete a passage about Tai’an and voice a video about the city .

Step 7 Summary

Let the students to sum up what they have learned.

Step 8 Homework

1. Recite “the Heaven city” and try to introduce Tai’an in English if   necessary..

2. Finish off   the Grammar Exercises in Unit 4.
